REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICES ON UPCOMING PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
The City would like to inform residents that refuse collection services will continue as normal during Freedom Day and Workers’ Day (27 April and 01 May 2026, respectively).
Residents are advised to place their black refuse bags and blue garden refuse bags on the verge on the morning of their scheduled collection days.
However, please note that orange recycling bags will not be collected on public holidays. This applies to areas scheduled for recycling collection on the following days:
• Freedom Day: 27 April 2026
• Workers’ Day: 01 May 2026
Residents are requested to retain their recyclables and place them out for collection on the next scheduled collection day that does not fall on a public holiday.
The City further encourages all residents and visitors to contribute to a litter-free environment by practising responsible waste management. This includes avoiding illegal dumping and littering and ensuring that refuse is only placed out on scheduled collection days.
Residents are also urged to make use of street litter bins strategically placed across the City.
The Municipality calls on residents to take a firm stand against littering and illegal dumping. Offenders found unlawfully dumping waste in open spaces will be fined and held responsible for the removal of such waste.
