MAYOR XABA TO UNVEIL TWO CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE TO DRIVE RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
EThekwini Municipality is taking decisive action to bridge the unemployment and opportunity gap in rural communities through the unveiling of two Human Capital Centres of Excellence in KwaXimba and Molweni, west of Durban.
Tomorrow, 12 June, eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba will officially unveil the two centres, providing communities with access to critical skills development programmes, digital resources, and economic opportunities.
Located in deeply rural areas, the KwaXimba and Molweni Human Capital Centres of Excellence represent a significant step towards bringing services and opportunities closer to communities that have historically been excluded from mainstream economic participation.
The centres form part of a growing network of 31 Human Capital Centres of Excellence established across eThekwini to bridge the rural divide and equip young people with the skills and tools needed to thrive in an increasingly digital and technology-driven economy.
This initiative reflects the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth, strengthening human capital development, and fostering inclusive economic growth in rural communities.
