MAYOR XABA COMMENDS RESCUE AND RECOVERY TEAMS FOR FINDING BODY OF MISSING SWIMMER AT SOUTH BEACH
The body of a missing learner who disappeared at New Beach in Durban on Friday has been recovered south of Addington Beach.
The body was discovered this morning by lifeguards, Metro Police, SAPS Search and Rescue, and the Coastal Patrol Unit, and was subsequently handed over to the police.
The family of the deceased has been notified, and arrangements are being made for them to view the body.
EThekwini Municipality Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, has commended everyone involved in this difficult recovery operation.
“We once again convey our condolences to the family of the deceased and hope that they will now be able to find closure.”
The Mayor cautioned the public against swimming at non-bathing beaches and during late hours when lifeguards are off duty.
