MAYOR XABA CHAMPIONS YOUTH EMPLOYMENT THROUGH SAFETY AND SECURITY CAREER EXPO
EThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba will tomorrow, 25 June, spearhead a youth empowerment initiative through the Safety and Security Career Expo, aimed at tackling youth unemployment and bridging critical skills gaps in the safety and security sector.
Joined by Deputy Mayor Councillor Zandile Myeni, senior Municipal leadership, and industry experts in the safety and security sector, Mayor Xaba will engage directly with 600 Grade 12 learners from the Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu (INK) communities, which are significantly affected by crime and safety challenges.
This targeted intervention aims to guide young people towards high-demand careers in safety and security while empowering them to play an active role in building safer and more resilient communities.
The Expo will connect learners to opportunities in policing, law enforcement, emergency services, private security, and disaster management.
It will also provide direct access to industry experts, training pathways, and employment prospects.
