Interruption Of Water Supply To Areas Supplied From The South Coast Augmentation Pipeline System

 INTERRUPTION OF WATER SUPPLY TO AREAS SUPPLIED FROM THE SOUTH COAST AUGMENTATION PIPELINE SYSTEM

The city wishes to inform residents and businesses of an interruption of water supply caused by repeated tripping of the South Coast Augmentation (SCA) Booster Pump Station (BPS).

Due to the recurring nature and complexity of the fault, a specialist was called in to assess the pumps and diagnose the underlying cause of the failures.

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams, led by the specialist, are currently on-site working to restore the pumps.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the fault is complex, requiring detailed technical intervention.

Currently, reservoir levels in the south region are critically low. While some areas in the central region downstream of the SCA system may experience intermittent supply.

Repairs are currently underway and are anticipated to be completed by 5pm today. 

System recovery will then commence. It must be noted, the system will first prioritise the Toti Water Works and Quarry Reservoir before water can be distributed to downstream reservoirs.

As a result, full restoration in the far South areas is expected to take longer, with residents likely to begin receiving water from Sunday afternoon, 12 April.

In the interim, water tankers will be deployed to supply affected communities.

Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly.
