CITY TO DELIVER UNFORGETTABLE CELEBRATION OF MUSIC
Durban is buzzing with excitement and it’s all systems go as the City enters the final countdown to the Metro FM Music Awards, now just two days away.
A wave of positive energy and anticipation has swept across the City, with visitors already arriving for a series of pre-events that are setting the tone for a spectacular weekend.
The highly-anticipated Metro FM Music Awards is expected to generate significant economic activity for the City, while reinforcing Durban’s reputation as a leading destination for major events, tourism and entertainment.
Hosting a celebrated event such as Metro FM Music Awards has provided a powerful national and international exposure for Durban’s beauty, warm hospitality, vibrant lifestyle and excellent venues, encouraging future leisure and business travel.
Mayor Cyril Xaba said visitors should expect a full Durban experience combined with world-class entertainment.
“Our investment in tourism infrastructure, new experiences and partnerships ensure there is always something fresh to explore whether it’s outdoor adventure, township tourism or culture. We encourage our visitors to explore the City beyond the main event spaces and experience our tourism attractions”, said Xaba.
The City has a strong safety and events management plan in place, which will see increased law enforcement visibility deployed in strategic venues. This includes Metro Police, SAPS, security companies and other law enforcement agencies.
Safety will be guaranteed for all guests and visitors.
The City’s safety plan is to ensure that the event is not only glamorous, but also safe, efficient and enjoyable.
The awards form part of a three-year hosting partnership that will see Durban host the Metro FM Music Awards from 2026 to 2028.
This long-term arrangement is aimed at unlocking recurring tourism benefits, job creation opportunities and broader economic growth linked to the creative sector.
