A staggering total of 100 exhibition stands for the South Region Business Fair to be held at KwaMnyandu Mall in Umlazi from 22 to 24 May 2015 are sold out.

Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee, Cllr Nomvuzo Shabalala, applauded local businesses for the early registration.

“This is a clear indication of the growing interest in the Fair from the business community and relevant stakeholders. The increasing interest on the programme inspired our decision early this year to increase the number of Regional Fairs from three to five.”

She said it is heartwarming to witness small businesses taking full advantage of such platforms created for their business growth and sustainability which will also encourage us as the City to continue to create more platforms for businesses to access development opportunities.

Shabalala encouraged businesses that will not be exhibiting and those who aspire to start businesses in the near future to participate in the Fair by attending the two-day Business Indaba which is free of charge and will be running concurrently with the exhibition.

“The Business Indaba will allow them to source all instrumental business information and tactics from established entrepreneurs, leading business companies and government departments,” said Shabalala.

She also mentioned that it is not the end of the road for businesses that were not able to secure exhibiting space in the South Region as they are also welcome to register in the North and Western areas as there is still some space available.
